About Us

Heiberger Paving was founded in April 1977 by current president Ken Heiberger. Initially conducting day-to-day operations from the Heiberger home, the family-owned business has since grown into a leading paving and sports surfacing company in the Central Ohio community. Based in Canal Winchester, Heiberger Paving continues to approach each project with equal patience and attention while ensuring that the company lives up to its motto: “We’re building a reputation, not resting on one!”

The following timeline marks some of the company’s milestones. We also have a more detailed Word Document of Heiberger's History.

1977 – Heiberger Paving established
1980 – First shop built at 975 Walnut Street in Canal Winchester, OH
Mid-1980s – Purchased and pioneered the leasing of asphalt milling machine and wrote specifications requiring the grinding of butt joints and edges for asphalt overlays
1987 – Relocated to newly built shop at 985 Walnut Street in Canal Winchester, OH
1988 – Hired Joel Heiberger, now VP of Blacktop Construction Division and General Manager
1989 – Hired Joe Steager, now VP of Coatings Division
1990 – Purchased assets from a small seal coat company and began tar emulsion sealing of driveways and parking lots (Coatings Division was born)
1992 - Selected to be among the top 100 Asphalt Maintenance Contractors in the country
Mid- to Late- 1990s – Employed 50 people per year
2002 – Hired Kyle Heiberger, now managing Black Emulsion Seal Coat area of Coatings Division and head of Information Technology
2004 – Hired Kevin Heiberger
2005 – Additional equipment purchases and crew members employed to support long-term growth
2006 – Expanded Coatings Division by purchasing the assets of a Urethane track surfacing company based in Dayton, OH
2007 – Relocated to 458 W. Waterloo Street
